Good pitching and timely hitting can sure be helpfull to a team. I just hope that this team can finally learn that lesson. Phil Akens started for the Cougars and pitched six good innings. He gave up two runs, one was a solo homer. Phil also gave up six hits.

Nic Ungs came in for some relief and pitched three great innings. He allowed one base runner, on an error. He struck out two to earn the save.

Michael Tucker was the story offensivly, he had four hits, all singles. He drove in two runs and scored another. Rex Rundgren had three hits, on double. Winton Zapey had two hits, scored a run and had a double.

The Kings scored first, in the second inning. Felix Diaz led off with a solo home over the gazebo in dead center.

The Cougars would come right back to tie the game in the bottom of the inning. Tucker singled to left. Angel Molina grounded to second. Tucker would get to third on a balk. George Arnott then flied out to center, on the play Tucker would tag up and score.

Taking the lead in the third the Cougars started it off with a walk by Anthony Brewer. Charles Frazier lined out to center. Kris Clute was hit by a pitch. Jason Stokes struck out. Tucker singled to center, on the play the center fielder dove and the ball got past him. Brewer would score. Molina would strike out to end the inning.

With one out in the fifth the Kings would score their last run. Dominic Ambrosini singled to center. Brett Boyer grounded out to first. Greg Thissen singled to left to score Ambrosini. Thissen would be thrown out trying to be greedy and get a double to end the inning.

In the bottom of the inning the Cougars would continue to score. Frazier led it off with a single to right. Clute grounded to short, to move Frazier along to second. Stokes was intentionally walked. Tucker singled to left to score Frazier. Stokes would make third on the play after the left fielder bobbled the ball. Tucker would get to second on a wild pitch. Molina popped out to second for the second out. Arnott was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Zapey struck out to end the inning.

Rundgren led off the sixth with a single to center. Brewer lined out to right. Frazier would reach on a fielder's choice, Rundgren would be out at second on the play. Frazier stole second. Clute then tripled to right to score Frazier. Stokes added a single to left to score Clute. Tucker would strike out to end the inning.

The Cougars would score one more run. In the seventh inning with to outs Zapey doubled to left. Rundgren then singled to center to score Zapey.
