The Cougars just couldnt get much done tonight as the only bright spots were David Castillo and Manny Rodriguez.
David Castillo hit a solo homer in the sixth. Manny Rodriguez came in for the seventh inning, and pitched two perfect innings.
Jared Trout pitched the first six innings and just didnt have much. He gave up nine hits and six runs. Four of the runs were earned. He had trouble from the second inning on.
The Rattlers scored first in the second inning. Bryan LaHair led off the inning with a double to center. Chris Collins then singled to right to get LaHair to third. Chris Colton then singled to short. LaHair would score. One out later, Francisco Gerez grounded out to third, Collins scored. Justin Ruchti would reach on a error by third baseman Kory Wayment. On the play Colton scored and Ruchti went to second. Josh Womack flied out to right to end the inning.
Behind by three runs going into the third inning the Cougars put up two runs of their own. Dan Putnam singled to right. Jesse Acosta then reached on a fielder's choice, On the fielder's choice the first baseman threw the ball into left field, he tried to get the ball to second to get Putnam at second. On the error Putnam went to third. One out later, Luke Appert walked to load the bases. One out later Eddie Kim singled to right to score both Putnam and Acosta. Kim tried to get a double and would be out.
Unfortunatly the Rattlers scored two runs of thier own in the bottom of the inning. Nick Orlandos walked to lead things off. Adam Jones would reach on a bunt single to third. LaHair then reached on another error by Wayment. A wild pitch would move all the runners up, letting Orlandos score. Collins grounded out to third, on the play Jones scored. Colton singled to left. Trout would be able to get Jeremy Dutton to ground into an inning ending double play.
LaHair then reached on an error by Appert, with one out in the fifth. Collins then doubled to left to score LaHair. With one out in the sixth, David Castillo hit a solo homer to left center field. The Cougers wouldnt get another chance for a win in the game. Manny Rodriguez really pitched well in his two innings.
