The Cougars swept away the Peoria Chiefs today in the final game of the series. Kane County won 7-1 and remain in sole possesion of first place in the western divison.

Joe Piekarz pitched a good game, he went into the seventh inning. Joe gave up six hits, and one unearned run. He walked two and struck out six. He was able to get out of jams when needed. In the second inning he gave up a single up the middle with one out. A groundout and a strike out later he was out of the inning. In the fourth a two outs walk, would be followed by a fielder's choice. The sixth inning Joe gave up a two outs single, he would get the next batter to ground out to get out of it.

The offense was crankin today, as they scored seven runs on ten hits. Chad Boyd, Isaac Omura, Jeff Baisley all had two hits. Baisley and Recker both drove home two runs.

In the first inning with two hard hit outs, Jeff Baisley hit a ground rule double to right center. The ball bounced onto the deck. Recker then hit a double down the left field line to score Baisley. The third inning the Cougars would score four times. Boyd led off with a single to right. Omura then singled to center. Baisley walked to load the bases. Recker would hit into a fielder's choice with Baisley being out at second. Boyd would score, and the only reason it wasnt a double play is because Baisley took out the second baseman with a great slide. Omura would score on a wild pitch. Jose Pineda then tripled down the right field line to score Recker. Steve Kleen hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Pineda.

Two more runs for the Cougars in the fourth inning. With one out, Raul Padron singled to right. Boyd then singled to center. Omura singled to first to load the bases. Baisley singled to center to score both Padron and Boyd. The Chiefs then made a pitching change. A strike out and a fielder's choice would end the inning.

Peoria scored their run in the fifth. With one out, Kyle Reynolds singled to left. Ryan Lilly singled to left. Olin Wick would reach on a error by Baisley, Reynolds scored. Piekarz would then strike out Davy Gregg and Ryne Malone to end the inning. The other times the Chiefs would threated would be the seventh and eighth innings. In the seventh, Reynolds led off with a single to right center. One out later, Wick singled to left, moving Reynolds to third. Gregg then walked which would load the bases. Piekarz day was then finished as the Cougars brought in Ben Jukich. Jukich would strike out, Malone and Jesus Valdez to end the inning. In eighth Ryan Norwood would get his only hit of the series, a led off double to left center. Robinson Chirinos ground out, Norwood moved up on the play. Alberto Garcia would then strike out. Reynolds walked, first and third with two outs. Lilly struck out to end the inning.

Padron ground out to third to end the inning. In the fifth, Steve Kleen led off with a walk. A fly out, a strike out, and a pop out later the inning was over. The sixth inning would also see the Cougars not score. With two outs, Baisley walked. Recker then singeld to left. Pineda struck out to end the inning.
