Mike Mallory hi a three run homer in the ninth inning Thursday night to give the Lansing Lugnuts a 7-6 victory over the Fort Wayne Wizards.
Lugnuts pitcher Steve Ellis struck out all three Wizard batters in the bottom of the ninth for his second save of the season.
Fort Wayne took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on Jon Benick's RBI double. Lansing answered in the third inning with three runs on Hector Miliano's RBI single, J.J. Johnson's RBI double to center and Luke McKnight scored on an error.
The Wizards rallied in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 6-5 lead going into the seventh. Eddie Serrano doubled in the fifth, Keto Anderson singled and Lee McCool's infield single score Serrano. Jon Benick's double to right field scored both Anderson and McCool. Kevin Reinking had a RBI single in the sixth and Serrano had a RBI sacrifice fly to bring home Jon Knott.
Brad Bouras' RBI single to centerfield scored Theriot in the eighth inning to bring Lansing to within 6-4.
Josh Arteaga and Jan Thornton-Murray walked to begin the ninth and then pitch hitter Mallory homered to leftfield, scoring the go ahead run.
