The Wisconsin TimberRattlers committed seven errors and thier pitchers walked 10 batters as visiting Cedar Rapids took advantage Saturday afternoon for an 11-4 victory in from of 1,212 fans at Fox Cities Stadium.
Cedar Rapids (10-6) got the lead early when Justin Turner cracked his second home run of the season in the first inning.
The Kernels put the game away in the third inning scoring four times. Jeff Mathis hit his fourth homer of the season. Casey Kotchman and Dallas McPherson each doubled, and Nick Gorneault and Jon Cahill both added RBI singles.
Mike Napoli closed the Kernels scoring with a three RBI double in the ninth inning.
Joe Torres raised his record to 3-0, allowing four hits and an unearned run over five innings. Torres has yet to allow and earned run in 16 innings of work this season.
Dan Floyd had a two run double for the TimberRattlers (8-9) in the bottom of the ninth.
