The South Bend SilverHawks saw their recent stretch of good luck run out Wednesday night.
Luis Sabino's two run double sparked a three run fourth inning outburst, lifting the West Michigan WhiteCaps to a 4-2 victory over South Bend in Midwest League baseball action.
Despite four hits from shortstop Tila Reynolds, the Hawks (10-3) had their four game winning streak halted and their lead in the Eastern Division over Lansing cut to two games.
The WhiteCaps (6-7) took advantage of a pair of South Bend miscues to break out on top in the fourth against Hawks' starter Chris Kinsey.
South Bend finally got on track in the seventh inning by touching righty Virgil Vasquez (2-0) for both of it's runs.
Alex Frazier singled home Emilio Bonifacio with the first tally, while Reynolds came home from third on a wild pitch for the other run.
West Michigan added what proved to be a huge insurance run in the eighth on Kody Kirkland's RBI triple.
South Bend made one final push in the ninth by getting runners at first and third with just one out. WhiteCaps' closer Chris Homer ended the threat, though, by fanning Frazier and getting Edgar Valera on a flyout to earn his third save.
Kinsey (1-1) allowed five hits and fanned three over seven innings. Frazier and Valera had two hits apiece for South Bend, which stranded 12 runners.
