A three run third inning gave Peoria a 4-1 lead, and the Chiefs held on to defeat the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 4-2 Friday.
The Kernels managed just four hits. Dallas McPherson was 1 for 3 with an RBI for the Kernels. Ryan Nevins scored two runs and Casey Kotchman had an RBI for Cedar Rapids (12-9)
The Kernels tallied solo runs in the third and eigth innings.
