Kane County Cougars at Beloit Snappers
May 9th, 2004
Game 1
The Cougars and the Snappers played a mother's day double header in Beloit today. Game one the Cougars just couldn't get anything going steadily. Just like most of the season so far they dont start hitting untill the eighth and the ninth innings. There's only one problem with that, in double headers there's only seven innings.
Jared Trout started for the Cougars and didn't do to well, as he lasted into the fourth inning. Jared gave up five hits and five runs. He walked three and struck out four. He just gave up way too many hits at the worst times. In one inning he walked three hits, one intentionally.
Beloit got off to a three run lead in the second inning. Lou Palmasinao grounded one to short, the throw from shortstop Brian Ingram pulled first baseman Eddie Kim off the base, he got charged with an infield single on the play. Vinny Rottino then doubled to left to allow Palmasiano to score. Two outs later, Carlos Carpran then hit a liner down the right field line that just made it over the wall for a two run homer.
In the third inning, somehow the Snappers only scored one run. Guilder Rodriguez lead things off with a single to center. Terry Trofholz then grounded one to the pitcher, on the play Rodriguez would make second. Drew Anderson was intentionally walked. Palmasiano then walked, which would load the bases. Rottino hit a fly to center, on the play Rodriguez would tag up and score the Snappers fourth run of the game. Adam Heether then walked, to reload the bases with now two outs. Robby Deevers then reached on a fielder's choice to end the inning.
Meanwhile the Cougars real first chance to score in the fourth inning, came with runners on first and second with one out. The only problem is that Brian Snyder then hit into an inning ending double play. The good thing is the Cougars would come back in the fifth inning and score a run. Dustin Majewski lead things off with a singel to left. David Harriman then popped out to right. Nick Rogers would single to left, Majewski went to second on the play. A wild pitch would move both runners along a base. Luis Perez then doubled to center to score Majewski.
Only one problem for the Cougars after that inning, the Snappers would come back in the bottom of the inning and run off four runs of their own. Trofholz lead things off wit a grounder to short, Ingram's throw was late, it looked like he slipped as he planted to make the throw. The Cougars then made a pitching change to bring in Adiel Sanchez in place of Jared Trout. Unfortunatly here we go again. Drew Anderson put down a sacrifice bunt, the play would've gone pitcher to first but Sanchez threw the ball away, and Trofholz was able to get to third. Palmasinao then singled to right to score Trofholz. Again the Cougars made another pitching change, this time to bring in Brigmer Leon. Rottino greated him with a single to right to score Anderson. Heether would bloop one to right for a single.Deevers would also single to right, this time to bring home Palmasiano. Corpran hit a fly to center, on the play Rottino tagged up and scored the fourth run of the inning. Gilberto Acosta then would finally hit into a double play to end the inning.
Each team would score runs in the sixth inning, it just wouldn't be nearly enough for the Cougars to pull out a victory in game one. David Castillo lead off the sixth inning with a solo homer to left field. The Snappers would score their runs with one out. Trofholz singled to left. Anderson singled to center. Both runners would move up on a ground out. Rottino reached on a bad bounce error by Ingram. I don't think it should've been an error but its the Midwest League. Both Trofholz and Anderson would score ont he error.

Notes-well lets see, the Snappers have a dance for your dinner contest, this time it had a Cougar fan (Jodi) and some guy from Snapperville dancing on each of the two dugouts. The guy from Snapperville won only because he was more drunk, and because it is Snapperville. I demand a recount on the vote!.
