Bobby Wilson doubled to right leading off and scored on Matt Abram's two out RBI double to left.

Brian McFall was hit by a pitch leading off. He stole second and scored on Angel Sanchez' one out single past third. Sanchez scored on Mitch Maier's ensuing double to left. Maier scored on Bryan Graham's single to right.
Bottom 3rd
Nick Kimpton doubled to center leading off. Quan Cosby then reached on an infield single. Howie Kendrick then reached secon on a throwing error on pitcher Chris Goodman, with Kimpton scoring and Cosby going to third. Brandon Wood walked to load the bases, and Wilson singled to left to score Cosby and Kendrick.

Brian Foster walked leading off. McFall singled to center with two outs, and Chris Lubanski followed with an RBI single to center.

Kimpton doubled to right with one out and scored on Kendrick's two out double to left. Kendrick scored on Wood's run scoring single to right.

Aaron Peel led off with a home run to center. Kimpton singled to left and stole second. Cosby's single to center scored Kimpton, with Cosby getting to second on the throw home. He scored on Wood's one out single to right.

McFall doubled to left leading off, and eventually scored on a double play groundout.

Cosby tripled to center leading off and scored on Kendrick's single to left. Wood then homered to left. Wilson doubled to center and scored on Matt Brown's two run home run to left.

Bobby Wilson's thoughts Sunday afternoon were only partially at Memorial Stadium. The Cedar Rapids Kernels catcher also was thinking about what was going on at Edison Field in Anaheim, California. Casey Kotchman, hit good friend and former high school teammate, was making his major league debut for the Anaheim Angels. Kotchman is the first member of the much ballhooed 2002 Kernels to reach the bigs. He was called up from Double-A Arkansas to play first base for Anaheim after Darin Erstad injured his hamstring in a game late Saturday night.
"They had told him he was the first guy who was getting called up (if Erstad got hurt)," said Wilson afer the Kernels blasted the Burlington Bees, 14-7 on Mother's Day at Memorial Stadium. Kotchman went hitless in three at bats Sunday byt hit the ball hard twice, including a line drive to right field in the third inning for a sacrifice fly. He was second in the Texas League in hitting at the time of his recall (.368) and one of the top minor league prospects in the game.
"I've been trying to get a hold of him all day," Wilson said, "He's my friend, a great player and a great guy.", Wilson and Kotchman were part of a Seminole (FLA) High school team that was declared unofficial nation champions in 2001. Wilson believes nine players from that team are either playing professional baseball or college ball. Kotchman was the Angel's first round draft pick in 2001, the 13th overall pick. But Wilson, who hit cleanup behind Kotchman in the batting order, was named Seminole's most valuable player that year. He had three more hits Sunday, including a pair of doubles. He has hit saftely in nine of his last 10 games, including three three hit games, and has jumped his batting average to .307.
The Kernels (18-12) and in a tie with Clinton for first place in the Midwest League's Western Divison are ablaze as a team at the plate. They have 46 runs and 69 hits in their last five games and have jumped their team batting average from .232 to .255 during that span. "Guys are getting pitches to hit and not missing them." Wilson said.
Those good things Sunday including 18 hits, six doubles, a triple and home runs by Brandon Wodd, Matt Brown and Aaron Peel. Peel was playing for the first time in a week because of an injured groin.
Wood drove in four runs for the Kernels and stole his first three bases of the season. Every Kernels starter had at least one hit, with Wilson, Wood, Nick Kimpton and Quan Cosby collecting three each.
Cedar Rapids scored six rns, five earned, against Burlington starting pitcher Chris Goodman, who came into the game with a 0.68 earned run average. The Kernels salted away a 9-7 game with five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. "It's just preparation," Magallanes said, "When guys get prepared mentally to play the game, we can do some good things."
Allen Buckley (1-0) picked up the pitching win for the Kernels, through he allowed four hits and a pair of runs in two innings. Bob Zimmermann threw the final two innings and was credited with his sixth save.
The Kernels conclude their four game series with Burlington and their eight game homestand with a 6:30 game tonight. Cedar Rapids then goes on the road for eight straight, four each at Beloit and Wisconsin
The Kernels' next home game is May 20 against Quad City. That begins a season high 12 game homestand.
Kernels second baseman Howie Kendrick collected two hits and three RBI Sunday, extending his multiple hit streak to seven straigh games.
