South Bend SilverHawks at Kane County Cougars

Matt Chico pitched one helluva game for South Bend tonight as they beat the Cougars 2-0. Chico pitched a complete game two hitter for his sixth win of the season. He had one walk and eight strikeouts.
Chico retired the first four he faced, then gave up the walk. One out later, Vasili Spanos singled to left. Chico then struck out Chris Tritle on three pitches to end the inning. After that he retired the next four he faced, before Eddie Kim singled to right. A double play would then erase that threat. Chico then retired the next 13 he faced. To lead off the ninth inning Luke Appert would reach on an error. He then retired the last three on pop outs to end the game.
South Bend's offense scored just enough to get bye. In the second inning with one out Jeff Cook reached on a grounde to second, in which Appert's throw would be wide. Lino Garcia followed that up with a single to left to get Cook around to third. Alex Frazier drove in Cook with a sacrifice fly to left.
Edgar Varela led off the fourth for the Hawks with a single to right. Augie Murillo then blooped one to left. Cook would ground out to second for the first out, both runners moved up. Lino Garcia then grounded out to short, on the play Varela would score the second run.
Trent Peterson would go for the Cougars and pitch alright. He got out of the first with a pick off, after a walk. Another play on the bases would get him out of the third after a single. Jose Corchado pitched very well, in his first appearance after coming off the disabled list. He retired all ten Hawks he faced. Four of them on strikes.
