The Lugnuts will be happy to see Peoria depart town.

After suffering a 7-2 defeat to the Chiefs on Monday at Oldsmobile Park, the Lugnuts (27-29) have allowed 46 hits and 29 runs through three straight losses in the four game series.

"We're playing a good team out there," Lansing catcher Lukas McKnight said, "They're swinging well and we're having trouble executing on offense and defense. We need to bear down and put pressure on opponents,"

The teams close out the series at 7 tonight at Olds Park.

McKnight drove in both Lansing runs Monday with a double int he third and a single in the seventh.

"They had a good pitcher," McKnight said, "He had good stuff. I got down 0-2 and had to protect the plate."

Starter Mike Wodniki (4-5) pitched a gem for the Chiefs (34-21), leaving after six innings with a 6-1 lead. He allowed four hits, one run, one walk and struck out eighth.

"He was throwing pretty good," Lugnuts manager Julio Garcia said, "His fastball was getting up there,"

Sergio Mitre (2-7) took the loss, working six innings, allowing seven hits, four runs, and striking out five. He allowed eight runs in 4 1/3 innings his last start.

"He mixed up his pitches and had better commance today," Garcia said.

But Peoria scored two runs in the third and seventh on home runs by Gabe Johnson and Chris Duncan.

The Chiefs scored single runs in the first, sixth and eight. Duncan is the son of St. Louis Cardinals' pitching coach Dave Duncan.

"Sergio was trying to be a little to fine with Johnson," Garcia said, "Sergio is usually aggressive and goes after guys."

Mitre sandwiched two walks around Johnson's home.
