Kane County Cougars at Beloit Snappers
June 24th, 2004
The Cougars couldnt get the hit when they need it and left twelve runners on base and six of those runners were left in scoring position. Steve Bondurant just didnt have his good stuff tonight, and only got through five innings.
Bondurant didnt give up a hit untill the third inning. In all he gave up six hits and three runs. The main problem was that the Cougars just couldnt get anything going offensively when they had a chance.
The Cougars actually scored first, when they scored a run in the second inning. Brian Snyder led things off with a walk. One out later Luis Perez doubled down the line to right. One out later Eddie Kim then singled to center to score Snyder.
A double play got Bondurant out of a one out walk in the second. He couldnt get out of two out trouble in the third though. Terry Trofholz then singled to left. Willie Lewis lined one to left that just got past Nick Rogers for a double. Trofholz would score on the play to tie up the game. Lou Palmasiano then singled to left to score Lewis. Bondurant got Vinny Rottino to fly out to center to end the inning.
An inning later with one out Steve Moss homered off of the scoreboard in left center to give the Snappers a two run lead.
Kane County left the bases loaded twice in the game, the first time was the fourth inning. Snyder led off with a walk. One out later Luis Perez doubled down the line in left. Eddie Kim tried to get him over to third but hit a dribbler to the pitcher for the second out. Nick Rogers would then walk, which made it bases loaded. with the two outs. Brian Ingram then hit one that almost went out of the park but the right fielder would get it on the warning track to end the inning.
More trouble for the Cougars in the fifth when the Cougars got out of another inning with out scoring. Luke Appert led off with a single to left. David Castillo then grounded into a double play. Vasili Spanos was then hit by a pitch. Brian Snyder would then ground out to second to end the inning. In the sixth they would also leave runners on base. Dustin Majewski led off with a single to center. One out later Eddie Kim walked. The Snappers then made a pitching change to bring in Ty Taubenheim to replace their starter Greg Montalbo. Rogers would pop ip foul to first for the second out. Ingram would then be caught looking to end the inning.
Again in the eighth inning the Cougars would leave the bases loaded. With one out Majewski singled to center. Perez then singled to center also. The centerfielder had trouble getting the ball and both runners would move up a base. Eddie Kim would then draw a walk to load the bases. Kory Wayment then pitch hit for Nick Rogers. The Cougars would pitch run for Kim with Kory Wayment. Rogers would strike out. The Snappers would then make a pitching change. Mitch Stetter would come in and replace Taubenheim. Ingram then popped out to third to end the inning.
The Snappers would score two more runs in the seventh inning. Josh Murray then reached on an error by shortstop Brian Ingram. Leon would balk, Murray to second. Terry Trofholz then singled to left, Murray would score on the hit. Will Lewis then singled to third. Lou Palmasiano then singled to right to score Trofholz. The Cougars then made a pitching change to bring in Dan Fyvie to replace Leon. Vinny Rottino then reached on a fielder's choice with Palmasiano being out at second. Adam Heether and Steve Moss would both strike out, which would end the inning.
The Snappers then scored one run in the eighth inning. With one out Manny Ramirez doubled to left. One out later Trofholz singled to center to score Ramirez.
The Cougars would get a little bit closer in the top of the ninth. With one out David Castillo doubled to left. One out later Brian Snyder singled. Dustin Majewski would then homer for three runs. Perez then grounded out to short to end the inning.
