The Cougars scored two runs in the bottom of the tenth, after the Rattlers borke the one all tie with a run in the top of the inning. In the top of the inning, Michael Cox took one deep to center for a solo shot.
The bottom of the inning saw Brian Snyder led off with a single to right. He was then pitch ran for by Luis Perez. Vasili Spanos followed that up with a single to left. Dustin Majewski would reach on a fielder's choice, with Perez being out at third on a sacrifice bunt attempt. Trevor Brown then won the game for the Cougars with a double to center to score both Spanos and Majewski.
The first run of the game came in the third inning. Chris Tritle led off with a single to left, then he stole second base. Nick Rogers singled to right to get Tritle to third. One out later, Luke Appert would hit a fly to right, Tritle tagged up and scored. Brian Snyder then walked. Spanos would hit into a fielder's choice with Snyder being out at second to end the inning.
Trent Peterson started for the Cougars and pitched well. He went into the seventh inning, giving up only four hits and one run. He walked one and struck out three. Peterson retired the first six he faced, then gave up a leadoff walk in the third. Two outs later Michael Nesbit reached on an infield single. After that he gave up a leadoff single in the fourth, but a double play would get him outta trouble.
The fifth inning would be another story. That is when he gave up the one run. Chris Colton led off with a single to right. Michael Cox then hit one that went through third baseman Snyder's legs for an error. On the play Colton went to third and Cox stayed at first. One out later Justi nRuchtie grounded one to short. Shortstop Ingram tried to get the force on Cox at second by throwing to the second baseman Appert. Appert would drop the ball and all hands would be safe. Colton scored on the play. For some reason th offical scorer counted this as a earned run but I cant figure out why. One out later Nick Orlandos would reach on a fielder's choice with Cox being out at second to end the inning.
After that Peterson gave up a single to one of the last four men he faced. Dan Fyvie came in and retired all five men he faced. Justin Crowder did a great job in his one inning of work of getting all three men he faced. Besides the homer in the tenth Jose Corchado gave up a single and that would be all, he would get the win.
Brandon Moorehead started for the Rattlers and did a nice job. He went six innings, giving up only two hits and one run. His main problem was five walks, he also struck out seven Cougars.
