Kane County Cougars at Quad City River Bandits

The Cougars tried to give this game away, they really did. In the end the would get the win with a run in the eighth inning.
Trent Peterson pitched well, he went five innings, giving up five hits and only on unearned run. He walked three and struck out five. Trent was in trouble most of his outing but found ways to get out of it without too much toruble. He gave up a leadoff bunt single in the first, then a walk. Peterson was able to get Brock Peterson to ground into the inning ending double play.
The Swing of the Quad Cities scored their only run in the third inning. Omar Burgos led off by drawing a walk. Paul Rutgers then hit into a double play. J.R. Taylor would reach on an error by the short stop Brian Ingram. The ball hit the lip of the infield and just bounced over him. Justin Arneson followed that by hitting a long fly over center fielder Dustin Majewski's head and against the bottom of the wall. Arneson would get into third saftley, as Taylor would score easily. Kyle Phillips popped out to center to end the inning.
The Swing had the go ahead run on third in the fifth inning. Omar Burgos led of with a single to center. Paul Rutgers then lined out to center. J.R. Taylor would single to left. Burgos got to third, Taylor tried to get a double but would be thrown out by left fielder Kory Wayment. Arneson walked. A wild pitch would get Arneson to second, Burgos held at third. Phillips then struck out to end the inning.
The other run the Swing scored would be in the seventh inning. With one out, Rutgers singled to short. Reliever Brigmer Leon then tried to pickoff Rutgers at first and the first baseman Eddie Kim couldnt grab the ball. The error was charged to Kim. Rutgers went all the way around to third. J.R. Taylor then singled through the draw in infield to left to score Rutgers.
With two outs in the third inning Brian Ingram and Luke Appert both walked. Brian Snyder singled to right to score Ingram. Appert would be cut down trying for third for the third out. In the fifth it looked like the Cougars had just givin away the game by not being able to get the big hit. Swing pitcher Scott Tyler walked Chris Tritle, Brian Ingram and Luke Appert with nobody out and the meat of the order up. After fouling off two pitches Brian Snyder would strike out for the first out. Eddie Kim suffered the same fate for the second out. Vasili Spanos then swung at two of the three strikes he saw, he wasnt able to do nothing with any of them and the Cougars stranded the bases loaded.
Dustin Majewski led off the sixth inning with a homer downt he right field line, that according to Cougar announcer Chris Rushin took one bounce and then went into the Mississippi river. That was the fourth pitch from new Swing reliever Julio DePaula. Trevor Brown then walked. Wayment would single to center. Tritle struck out looking for the first out. Ingram would fly out to left. Appert popped out foul back to the catcher to end the inning. The Cougars won the game in the eighth inning with an unearned run. Brown led it off hit a double down the right field line. Wayment hit a fly to right, Brown was about half way down the line as the ball was in the air. He tried to get back to second base to tag up and go to third base, but would be out at third for the second out of the inning. Chris Tritle then reached on an error by the left fielder. He droped the ball, and Tritle hustled into second. Ingram was intentionally walked. Appert came through with a grounder that hit the first base bag and then popped up and into right field, on the play Tritle scored and Ingram went to third. Snyder hit one to the wall in centerfield for the final out.
Daniel Fyvie did a nice job in the fianl two innings for the Cougars as he was perfect.
