2nd half of the game story article
Dossett came in on relief. Dossett immediately gave up a two run base hit and another walk. Another two run single put the Chiefs up for good.
Atencio walked five, one below his season high set his last start Aug 4 against Kane County. Dossett worked a career high six innings, probably one inning too long as he gave up three runs in the top of the ninth for the final tally.
"Greg again struggled with his control," said Gabella. "When you have a 7-1 lead, you have to make those guys swing the bats. We didn't do that today and we let them back into the game by walking people, and the rest is history really."
History and a loss
On deck
Left hander John Gragg (2-10, 4.27 era) goes to the mound against Peoria right hander Michael Parisi (1-0, 0.00)
Notes
The Bees' roster is back to its full complement of players after the addition of infielder Ed Lucas and right hander Justin Sherman, both promoted from Kansas City's rookie team in Idaho Falls. Lucas-The Royals eighth round pick out of Dartmouth-was batting .312 with six doubles, a triple, 29 RBI, 30 runs scored and seven stolen bases. Sherman led the Pioneer League with an 8-1 record. The non drafted free agent signee in 2003 had a 5.54 era in 10 games, nine starts.... Chris Coughlin-who strained his lower back July 29-threw from the mound with no discomfort. No timetable is set for his return. .... Robbie McClellan who took Coughlin's place in the rotation, will undergo and MRI after straining a ligament in his right arm Sunday in Peoria..... Angel Sanchez-out since June 30 with a broken ring finger-has been playing catch and hitting soft toss the past 10 days. He will have an X-ray today and may be cleared to return.
