The Silver Hawks were able to score three runs in the fifth to overtake the Cougars for the win.
Kane County got out to a two run lead after the first inning. With one out Nick Rogers singled to center. One out later, Vasili Spanos clobbered his 12th homer of the season. One more run in both the third and the fourth innings. In the third inning, David Harriman led it off with a double to left. A wild pitch would get him to third. One out later, Nick Rogers hit a fly to right to allow Harriman to tag up and score. The next inning, Biran Snyder doubled off the left field wall. One out later Kory Wayment singled to left, Snyder made it to third. Eddie Kim would ground out to second, on the play Snyder would score.
After that the offense was nonexistant. They would get two hits and three baserunners the rest of the game. Chad Scarberry who started for the Hawks retired 13 out of his final 15 after that single by Wayment. Scarberry would get his eleventh win on the season, going eight innings.
Chris Dunwell started for the Cougars and got knocked around. Int he first inning the Hawks had a good chance to score. Jon Caplan led off with a hustle double to left. Jeff Cook would then reached on a fielder's choice, with Caplan being out at second. Alex Frazier then singled to left. Alan Mottram reache don a fielder's choice, on the play Frazier would be out at second, and Cook would get to third. Runners on the corners with two outs. Edgar Varela poped up to short to end the inning.
Dunwell would get through the next two inning giving up two hits. In the fourth the flood gates would open. Varela led off with a single to right. Brian Rose then singled to left. Jeremy Millons would reach on a fielder's choice, with Rose out at second. Alberto Gonzalez then reached on another fielder's choice, with Millons out at second, and Varela scoring from third. Emilo Bonafacio grounded one to first. The ball went under Eddie Kim's glove, I thought he should've gotten an error but they gave him a hit, Caplan singled to right, the throw in from right by Kory Wayment was high and Harriman couldnt get a hold of it for an error. Gonzalez scored.
In the fifth the Hawks scored three more times. Alex Frazier led off with a walk. Mottram then reached on a fielder's choice, with Frazier out at second. Varela singled to left. Rose doubled to center to score both Mottram and Varela. The Cougars then brought in a reliever for Dunwell. Brigmer Leon came on to pitch. Millons would pop out to second for the second out. Alberto Gonzalez tripled to left to score Rose. Bonafacio would fly out to right to end the inning.
The scoring for the game was over but the Hawks had a chance to score two out of the last three innings. In the sixth inning, Caplan led off with a double to left. Cook poped out to left. Frazier flew out to right, Caplan tagged up and went to third. Mottram then grounded out to third to end the innig. In the eighth inning with one out Caplan singled to right, and went to second on an error by Wayment. Cook then was intentionally walked. Runners on first and second with one out. Frazier grounded out to third. Mottram then poped out to short .
