Game Two of Doubleheader


Jeff Fulchino did a nice job getting out of some trouble early on in this game. In the first inning with a runners on first and second and nobody out. Chris Collins struck out. Greg Dobbs lined out to center. Luis Oliveros then struck out to end the inning. In the second inning Sean Peless doubled to lead things off. Corey Freeman put down a bunt to get Peless to third. James Rainey and Jeff Allens struck out to end the inning. In the third inning Jeff struck out the side.

Fulchino is in the top ten in the league in strikeouts, he added to the total with eight more in tonights game. In the second and third innings he struck out five in a row.

Jason Stokes had another good game, he went 4 for 4 in this game. He scored one run and drove home another. Kris Clute had two hits in the latter portion of the game. He had a big hit in the eighth to bring home two runs on a double to center. William Arroyo got on base three out of the four times he came up to bat, he walked twice and had a hit. Arroyo scored once.

Jon Asahina had another good outing with the Cougars, he pitched three shutout innings. Giving up one hit and walking one. He got the win after coming into the game in the sixth he retired the first six he faced. Four of those out were on grounders.



The scoring started in the top of the first when, Charles Frazier led things off with a single to center. Anthony Brewer then flied out to center. Jason Stokes singled to left to get Frazier to third. George Arnott struck out. Heath Kelly singled to left. On the play Frazier would score. The throw from left would hit Frazier and bounce behind home plate. Stokes tried to score, but the pitcher got the ball back to the catcher in time to get the out at home to end the inning.

The Cougars added another run in the third when William Arroyo led the inning off with a walk. Charles Frazier then struck out. Arroyo would advance to second on a wild pitch, even though he took of after the catcher had the ball. Anthony Brewer grounded out to third. Jason Stokes then singled to right to score Arroyo.

The Rattlers tied the game in the fifth when with one out Jason Rainey walked. Jeff Allena hit a homer just fair to tie the game.

The Cougars broke the game wide open in extra innings. In the eighth inning with one out Jason Stokes singled to right. George Arnott then walked. Heath Kelly was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Winton Zapay struck out. Rex Rundgren hit one to third. The third baseman threw late to second for the force and was charged with an error. On the play Stokes scored. Kris Clut doubled to center to score both Arnott and Kelly. William Arroyo singled to short, on the play Rundgren scored.
