Adrian Gonzalez had another big day, going four for five. He had four singles, and
four runs batted in. Chip Ambres also had a good day, he went two for three. Chip also walked twice, the most important part though was the fact that he scored four times.
Brad Haynes had a good day, he went five innings. He gave up five hits, but only one run
scored, and that was unearned. Brad walked two and struck out five. He got the win, to even his record at two.
The Cougars bullpen also was good. Mike Flannery, Hansel Izquierdo and Steve Sawyer combined to go four innings, give up four hits. They did not left a run score, and only walked one. They struck out four.
The scoring started in the top of the first when, Nook Logam started the game off with a double to left. Miles Durham then reached on an error by Haynes. The Whitecaps then performed a text book delayed steal of home and it worked.
The Cougars then took the lead for good in the third when, with two outs Chip Ambres walked. Will Smith then hit a homer to right center field.
More runs for the Cougars in the fifth when Ambres led off the inning by reaching on an infield single to third, then stole second. One out later Gonzalez singled to center to score Ambres.
The Cougars blew the game open in the sevneth and eighth. In the seventh Matt Easterday led off the inning by reaching on an infield single to third. Ambres then doubled to right. Easterday then scored on a wild pitch. The Whitecaps then made a pitching change, the pitcher got one out. Gonzalez then singled to left to score Ambres.
With one out in the eighth Dennis Anderson was hit by a pitch. Easterday then walked along with Ambres to load the bases. Smith then hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Anderson. Gonzalez then came up and singled to right to score both Easterday and Ambres. Jim Kavourias then doubled to left to score Gonzalez.
