Lansing Lugnuts at Kane County Cougars
Wednesday, May 22nd, 2002
Phillip B. Elfstrom Stadiu, Geneva, Illinios

Phil Akens should've won the game tonight, there was only one problem. He gave up a run scoring single followed by a two run homer in the eighth. Akens pitched very well, he went seven scoreless innings, in those seven innings he gave up only three hits.

Carmen Pignatiello started for the Lugnuts and pitched well also. He went seven innings, and gave up only five hits. He allowed one run, unearned. He walked two and struck out two.

The scoring started in the third for the Cougars, with one out Charles Frazier doubled to center. He then stole third, and came home on a bad throw from the catcher.

In the eighth inning, the Lugnuts started their comeback with one out. Mike Mallory doubled to left. Buck Coats then ground ball to second base. On the play Mallory moved along to third. Ryan Theriot then grounded one to third, Tucker got the ball but his throw was late, the run scored. Lukas McKnight then came up and hit a homer down the right field line.
