The Battle Cats swept South Bend on Tuesday to win their fourth straight game after the season 0-2.
The Battle Cats won the opener of the double header caused by Monday's rain out, 6-3 and then used SilverHawks miscues to earn a 7-4 victory in the nightcap.
Behind starting pitcher Cory Doyne (1-0) who went six innings and allowed six hits and two earned runs while striking out five, the Battle Cats opened up a 6-0 lead in the opener and cruised to the win. Trevor Mote supplied the offenseive power in the opener with a home run.
In game 2, South Bend (1-5) scored three runs in the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead but the Cats came right back with three of their own in the top of the fifth to take the lead for good.
Michigan was helped by a two out bases loaded error in that inning that plated two Cats to break open a -3 game and give the Cats a two run lead. All seven of Michigan's runs came with two outs.
D.J. Houlton (1-0) got the win in relief of starter Brian Rodaway and Greg Powell pitched a perfect seventh inning to get his first save of the season.
The Cats (4-2) will go for the four game series sweep in South Bend today at 7:30pm with Opening Day starter Mike Burns (0-1) on the hill.
Barring a rain out today Michigan returns home on Thursday to host Fort Wayne in what will be the 1,000th game in team history.

An abilitly to score runs after two were out paid off Tuesday night for Michigan's Battle Cats at Coveleski Stadium.
While sweeping a Midwest League doubleheader against South Bend, 6-3 and 7-4, the visitors scored 11 of their 13 runs after two were out.
"You'll win a lot of games when you can do that," said Michigan manager John Massarelli, whose club goes for the four games series sweep of the Hawks tonight at 6:30. "I thought we really battled hard at the plate and made South Bend's pitchers work hard for everything."
In the opener, it was right hander Cory Doyne who shut out the SilverHawks for five innings. In the second game lefty Brian Rodaway allowed just four hits over four innings before D.J. Houlton picked up the victory in relief. The Hawks could do little against Doyne for five innings.
Dustin Vugteveen's leadoff single in the fifth was the first ball hit to the outfield against Doyne, who threw just 68 through five innings, and finished with 86 through six.
South Bend scored twice in the sixth, when after two were out, Kyle Nichols doubled, Bryan Loeb tripled and Vugteveen singled. The RBI hits by Lobe and Vugteveen were South Bend's first of the season with two out and a runner in scoring position. The Hawks were 0 for 14 in that category before the inning.
Lino Garcia belted a solo homer off Michigan reliever Grant Dorn in the seventh.
The visitors roughed up SilverHawk tennager Edgar Gonzalez, scoring three times in the third and three more in the fourth. Third baseman Trevor Mote was involved in both innings, opening the third with a home run over the right field wall. Todd Shelf had a RBI double.
Mote singled in the fourth, a four hit inning that included a triple from Brooks Conrad
Nichols and Vugteveen had two hits each for South Bend.
Jon Castelanos gave the Hawks two innings of hitless relief, and turned in a defensive gen when, on the way to cover first on a ball hit to first baseman Nichols made the play on a throw behind him.
