Beloit at Kane County
May 25th, 2004
The Cougars won despite, early on looking shakey. Steve Bondurant looked bad his first inning, his mechanics were off, and he gave up two runs. After that he gave up three hits and no runs. What he did do was strike out 13 Snappers and not walk any.
Bondurant was great after that one inning he struck out the side in the fourth. Between the last hit of the first inning and the sixth inning, when he would give up a lead off single to Josh Murray, Bondurant retired 15 in a row
Those two runs in the first were all that the Snappers would get in the game. Terry Trofholz led things off with a single to third. Josh Murray was caught looking for the first out. Adam Heether hit a two run homer to left cetner field, that hit the bottom of the score board and bounced back onto the field. Vinny Rottino then singled to center. Drew Anderson blooped one to left. A wild pitch would move both runners along. Then Steve started to really bear down. He would strike out Manuel Ramirez and Robby Deevers to get out of the inning.
It was nice to see the offense come right back in the bottom of the first and get those two runs back. Brian Ingram led off with a walk. Luke Appert would pop to left. Brian Snyder hit a two run homer onto the deck in right field. Eddie Kim would walk. Vasili Spanos then reached on a fielder's choice. It would've been a double play had Kim not taken out the second baseman on his slide into second. Dustin Majewski then grounded to first to end the inning.
The Cougars would get the lead in the third inning. With one out, Luke Appert hit a solo shot to right center. They had a chance to score some runs in the fourth inning but couldn't. Spanos led off by reaching on an error. Majewski walked. Trevor Brown would strike out for the first out. Luis Perez flew out to center, Spanos tagged up and lumberd into third. Nick Rogers then flew out to left to strand the two runners.
The seventh inning saw the Cougars get one more run. With two outs Nick Rogers took one to left field for a solo shot. In the eighth again the Cougars would have some runners on base. Appert led off with a single to left. Snyder then singled to center. Kim would strike out. Spanos then flew to right, on the play Appert tagged up and went to third. Majewski would unfortunatly strike out to end the inning.

Notes-Error on Beloit manager Don Money. He had a bouncer come by his third base coaches box, he caught it one handed, but the ball slipped out. Come on Don I know youve been in the league forever but you gotta make that play.
