Well mama always said there'd by days like this. Today was just not
the Cougars day. The Whitecaps scored in the first six innings straight.
The Cougars deffense was no where to be found today, as they made
three errors, but there could've easily been more. Dominic Woody also
did not have that good of a day behind the plate as almost every other
pitch it seemed was in the dirt.
The umpires did not help either as they just blew so many calls today.
I know that they are here to learn also but these two should be in rookie
ball, come on.
Mike McNutt did not have much of anything today as he lasted four innings.
He gave up seven hits and eight runs. The Whitecaps hit two homers off of him.
Only six of the runs were earned since the deffense did not help much.
Mark Woodyard pitched well for the Whitecaps as he went seven innings.
He gave up seven hits and only two runs. He walked two and struck out three.
The Cougars bullpen except for Eudy Lajara who gave up four hits and five runs,
in only one and two thirds innings. Mike Flannery, Chris Key and Hansel
Izquierdo all pitched well. They combined to go 3.1 ip, 1 h, 0 r, 0 er, 1 bb, 4 k
For West Michigan their bullpen did it's job as Jerrod Fuell and Michael Steele combined
to go 2 ip, 0 h, 0 r, 0 er, 0 bb, 3 k
Ron Merrill lead the way offensivley for West Michigan as he had three
singles, and scored two runs. Merril also drove home two runs. Forrest Johnson and
Matt Walker both hit two run homers off of McNutt.
The slaughter began in the first for the Whitecaps when with two outs.
Merril singled to right. Johnson then hit a two run homer.
The Cougars did score one run in the bottom of the inning when Chip
Ambres lead the inning off with a double to right. One out later Adrian
Gonzalez single to center to drive home Ambres.
With one out in the second the Whitecaps had Hugh Quattlebaum up, and
he walked. One out later Miles Luuloa singled to right. Rightfielder
Paco Ferrand's throw went into the stands which allowed Quattlebaum to score.
In the third inning the Caps scored again when with one out, Merril singled
to left. One more out later, Walker hit his two run homer.
West Michigan just kept on coming in the fourth when with two outs, Miles
Luuloa singled to center. Nook logan then singled to center. Luuloa then scored
on a wild pitch, with Logan getting to second. Miles Durham then walked. Merril
was next and he blooped one to center that three Cougars would converge on
and the ball just fell in there for a single. Logan and Durham would score.
Matt Walker lead off the fifth with a walk. Ryan Neil then singled to
left. Hugh Quattlebaum then walked. Chris Parker then hit into a double
play, on the play Walker would score.
Finally the Whitecaps scored their last runs in the sixth when Logan would
reach on an error by thirdbaseman Matt DeMarco. Durham then walked. Miguel
Peguero who pitch hit for Merrill, singled to right to load the bases. One out
later, Walker hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Logan. Neil then singled
to left to score Durham. Quattlebaum continued the inning with a single to center,
in which the ball again just droped in. Peguero scored, on the throw home which was
not a good one, Neil would score also.
The Cougars finally scored another run in the bottom of the inning when
DeMarco singled to left. Miguel Cabrera then singled to center. Ferrand
then singled to right to score DeMarco.
