Kane County Cougars at Clinton Lumberkings
Tuesday, April 16th, 2002
Alliant Energy Field (Riverview Stadium), Clinton, Iowa

The Cougars had their chances in the game today, they were givin the opportunaties, but oh well better luck tomorrow. We just could not hit when we needed to. The Kings walked 11 Cougars hitters, of those 11 walks, only two of the runners scored, both were Brewer.

Michael Tucker had a sacrifice fly in the fourth and a sacrifice bunt in the eight. Anthony Brewer walked three times.

The scoring started in the first inning for the Cougars whnm Anthony Brewer led things off with a walk. Hunter Wyant then grounded out to first, on the play Brewer moved along to second. Scott Hicks then grounded out to third, Brewer moved to third. Jason Stokes then singled to center to score Brewer.

The Lumberkings took the lead in the second. Clyde Willams singled to left. Drew McMillon then reached first on a fielder's choice. On the play Arroyo got to the ball but threw it over the second baseman's head for an error. With Shawn Norris up Baxter threw a wild pitch. Williams would make it to third, McMillon would be caught off of first. Norris' at-bat would end up with a fly out to center. Lorvin Louisa then singled to center to drive home Williams. With David Lutz up to the plate, after a pitch, catcher Winton Zapey tried to get Louisa at first, but his throw went down the right field line, to the wall. Right fielder Charles Frazier got to the ball and threw it in to William Arroyo. Arroyo's relay to third, went over Michael Tuckers head for another error. On the error Louisa scored.

In the third inning the Kings got some more runs. Danny Rombley lead things off with an infield single in the whole at short. Greg Thissen then hit one to first. The only problem was that he was to fast for Stokes to throw to Baxter to get the out, it was a hit. Josh Labandeira then hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Rombley. Dominick Ambrosini double to left to get Thissen to third. Clyde Williams then grounded out to first. On the play Thissen crossed home plate.

The Cougars would score in the fourth when, Scott Hicks led things off with a walk. Jason Stokes then doubled to left. Charles Frazier walked. At this point the Cougars had the bases loaded with nobody out. Winton Zapey then hit into a fielder's choice, with Frazier out at second. On the play Hicks would score. Michael Tucker then hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Stokes.

In the sixth inning the Lumberkings would score some more runs. Dominick Amborosini led things off with a single to left. Clyde Williams then walked. Drew McMillon doubled to right to score Ambrosini.

Another weird inning for the Cougars in the top of the seventh when with one out Anthony Brewer walked. Clinton then changed pitchers. Hunter Wyant walked. A wild pitch would allow Brewer to get to third. Scott Hicks struck out. Jason Stokes walked. The bases were loaded with two outs. Charles Frazier flew out to center. But wait another balk was called, this is like the eighth in 12 games, Brewer would score on the balk.

The Lumberkings put the seal on this game in the bottom of the eighth when John Lababdeira lead things off with a single to left. Dominick Ambrosini double to left to score Labandiera. Clyde Williams then grounded out to second to move the runner to third. Drew McMillon hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Ambrosini.
