Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Kane County Cougars
Monday, April 15th, 2002
Phillip B. Elfstrom Stadium, Geneva, Illinios
Can somebody tell me if this is the 2001 Cougars or the 2002 version
of the Cougars. The Cougars put out 13 hits and scored seven runs, in route
to a 7-3 win, the win was their third straight victory and puts them a game
within .500.
Hunter Wyant lead the way with three hits. He had a run scoring double
in the second. Plus he also had singles in the sixth and the eighth. William Arroyo, Scott
Hicks, and Michael Tucker also had two hits apiece.
Frailyn Tejada started for the Cougars and did not pitch all that badly,
he went five innings, giving up seven hits. He gave up only one run, while
also walking two and striking out two. Tim Schilling then came in and pitched
the next three innings. He gave up three hits and one run. Lou Evans pitched then
ninth and gave up one homerun.
The scoring started in the first inning when, William Arroyo lead the
game off by being hit by a pitch in the foot. Hunter Wyant then hit into
a fielder's choice, with Arroyo being out at second. Timber Rattlers pitcher
Patrick Barnes then tried to pick off Wyant at first and threw the ball into
right field. Wyant would make it all the way around to third. Scott Hicks then single
to center to bring home Wyant. Jason Stokes walked. Barnes then threw a wild pitch.
On the play Hicks would make third and Stokes would make second. Charles Frazier
walked to load the bases. George Arnott then struck out. Michael Tucker singled to
left to score both Wyant and Hicks to make the score three to nothing.
The Rattlers would score a run in the next half inning, when Alejandro
Cadena singled to left. Chris Collins the lined one that look like it was
going to find the gap in left. Short stop Rex Rundgren made a great leaping
catch. Daniel Floyd singled right past Tucker at third for a single to get
Cadena to third. Jeff Ellena then doubled to left to score Cadena. Tejada
would then get out of the inning by getting a couple of groundouts to third.
More fun for the Cougars in the second when, with one out William Arroy singled to
right, then stole second. Hunter Wyant double to right to score Arroyo. Scott Hicks singled to
center to get Wyant to third. Jason Stokes then hit a sacrifice fly to right, on the play the
right fielder Floyd made a nice sliding catch down the line for the out. Wyant would score
on the play.
In the seventh innin Michael Tucker hit a homer onto the bleachers in
left field to bring the score to seven to one.
The Timber Rattlers would not go down without bitting the Cougars. In the
eighth inning Greg Dobbs led it off with a single to center. Alejandro Cadena
then walked. Chris Collins hit into a 6-4-3 double play, Dobbs to third.
Daniel Floyd stung one to third, Tucker made a nice play to get to the ball, unfortuantly
he made the throw to first, which bounced and got by first baseman Juan Garcia, on the play Dobbs would score.
Shin-soo Choo would hit a bomb to right field, for a homer in the ninth. The ball went a long ways
in between the bleachers and the deck.

Notes-Well we better mark this on the calendar all of the lights on the
scoreboard worked today, this is the first time this has happend in a couple
of years. It won't last.
More Notes-Catcher George Arnott, made a few nice plays on foul pops behind the
plate, with the wind really blowing.
